I am fascinated by the explosion of shopping apps for the iPhone that use location based services. What does that mean? Well they use goth the cellular network and mall/in-store WiFi networks to track where you are and your location allows them to "push" targeted deals right to your phone.
Recently I have used the new RetailMeNot App, to see just how well these digital deal sites work.

My article The Connected Consumer - The Connected Diner - Tracking you at the Store and at the Restaurant Table is a deep dive into smartphone shopping applications and restaurant tabletop ordering systems using the iPad as the technology base.
