Definition:
Cause-related marketing is simply this: socially responsible companies, brands, partner with one or more non-profits in a socially responsible brand effort to help the organization achieve their objectives. Cause-related can be part of a media effort and most recently has been tied to a brands social media efforts. Typically a brand ties in a consumer purchase and donates a portion of the proceeds to the organization.
Relevancy and Value are keys to the execution of any Cause-Related Marketing program.
