What was your light bulb moment?

Our light bulb moment was during a particular dinner cruise where the guests were mostly from the restaurant industry. We were serving our gourmet mini cupcakes and the guests were raving about the taste and quality. The appreciation was so much so that the guests barged into the galley to personally meet and congratulate the chef (Carolyn).

Ready Set Cupcake fills the niche of wanting a quality product… the desire to bake it myself… without needing the skills of a baker.

What is the Customer Problem You Solve?

When they see the pastry bag customers say "You mean this is all I have to do"? We have an added twist of customizing the flavor… through a closure in the bag consumers can add flavors of their choice. Our product creates a bonding moment between moms, dads, grandparents and children.

What are your Products/services

Ready. Set. Cupcake! is a line of all natural, frozen cake batters and buttercream frostings. Packaged in a convenient pastry bag, Ready. Set. Cupcake! bakes scrumptious cupcakes in minutes. You may even customize your own gourmet cupcake flavor right in the bag-No Mix, No Mess. Ready. Set. Cupcake! also bakes more of your favorite desserts including whoopie pies, madeleines and a 6" cake.

Who is Your Target Market (your customers)

Women make up majority of shoppers and specific segments are single mom, grandmother, teenager, single dads.

Where Will You Sell Your Product?

Currently, Ready. Set. Cupcake! is selling at Whole Foods Market in the Florida region, Epicure Market- Miami Beach, FL and Sunny Isle, FL and Wynn's, Naples.

Why Should the Retailer Buyer Give You Shelf Space?

We're something different… from the Fancy Food Show we know frozen buyers attitude: 'don't show me another ice cream or sorbet'! Our products stop the consumer at the freezer. It is not another cake or ice cream. Buyers are always wants products that stop the customer.

The Journey from Kitchen. What was the initial motivator that got the product out of the test facility, Kitchen or otherwise?

Ready. Set. Cupcake! was created during the recession to provide a business opportunity for both co-founders. Determination for financial stability/success and an outlet for true creative passion in the kitchen are the main motivators for getting us out of the kitchen and onto the grocer's freezer shelf.

To Shelf. What Strategies and Tactics worked in achieving getting on the shelf? Where there mistakes you learned from that strengthened your Retail Trade shelf strategy?

Tenacity has been the main key to making it to the grocer's freezer shelf. We do not take no for an answer and work until we have a solution. Mistakes we have learned from…maybe more the realization that we need to trust ourselves more.

To Consumers Plate. What Strategies and Tactics worked in getting initial customer trial? Where there mistakes you learned from that strengthened your consumer trial strategy?

The best strategy for getting consumers to try Ready. Set. Cupcake! has been in person demonstrations…..demo, demo, demo! The only mistake on this path has been not triple checking that we have enough products in stock to sell.

Where are you distributed?

What Social Media Do You Use?

What platforms are you using to actively engage customers? Facebook- We have a page and a budget for advertising… In just a short while we have over 2,700 friends. Pinterest - Just started using to generate photos of how easy and beautiful Ready. Set. Cupcake! is to bake with.
