Food & Beverage Pop-Up Stores and Mobile Shopping Walls
Pop-Up Stores were rare just 5 years ago. According to the Retail Prophet, the future of retail may be more temporary pop-up stores.
Walmart opened 2 Pop-up stores in November 2011. This is another example of Walmart seeking growth through small format retail concepts, the latest being Neighborhood Market and Walmart Express in Chicago.
Tesco Stores are merging consumer convenience and QR Bar Code Technology. Tesco Homeplus Shopping Wall store in the Seonreung Subway Station is a high tech example of a "mobile shopping wall" that is supercharged using the newest QR Barcode technology.
Even staid old Sears is experimenting with shopping walls. 
Tesco also is testing Click and Collect drive through grocery pickup locations - order on line and drive through to pickup. The Tesco hi-tech mobile shopping wall in Korea features a variety food and grocery items in addition to their non-food selections.
